Intense physical exercise such as competitive sport can temporarily causes a rise in blood sugar levels, which in turn promotes glycation, which is exacerbated by the high-sugar diet often associated with physical exercise. At the same time, intense physical exercise generates oxidative stress, which in turn accelerates glycation.
The combination of these two mechanisms suggests that intensive exercise can lead to accelerated ageing.
A study of 95,000 athletes in 183 countries and 44 disciplines shows that intensive practice of certain sports, such as martial arts, leads to a significant reduction in life expectancy, down to minus 8 years for Sumo wrestlers! In contrast, other disciplines such as athletics and gymnastics appear to be correlated with an improvement in life expectancy of up to 8 years (1).
Growing evidence suggests that the ideal exercise practices for promoting longevity differ from high-intensity training programmes. Indeed moderate, well-supervised physical activity reduces long term glycation, thereby preventing accelerated aging.
The fact remains that physical inactivity is a much more widespread public health problem than excessive exercise.

[Glycation is one of the major causes of aging. Resulting from the fixation of sugars on the proteins constituting the organism, glycation generates toxic compounds that cause cellular aging. Glycation is particularly involved in metabolic disorders, skin aging and cognitive decline.] [AGE BREAKER, patented nutritional supplements, based on rosmarinic acid, recognized by aging specialists around the world for their properties to reverse the effects of glycation.]More on www.agebreaker.com
