Glycation, the source of many signs of aging and age-related diseases, is 33% of genetic origin.
A genome-wide study conducted in the Netherlands on more than 27,000 participants shows that genetics would explain 33% of the risk of glycation in a population of healthy subjects (non-diabetics) (1).
This study revealed new genes associated with the risk of glycation. Most of the genetic basis of glycation remains to be discovered.
This shows above all that the unprogrammed part of aging linked to glycation remains the most important, thus opening the way to the management of this aging through behavioral changes: diet, exercises, supplementation, etc.
