GLYCATION WHAT'S NEW?

GLYCATION AND INFERTILITY: catastrophe announced

Glycation would have transgenerational effects on female reproduction.

Female infertility is on the rise in the Western world. Several factors are involved, first of all the more advanced age of pregnancy.

But numerous studies suggest that glycation could have an impact on reproductive health and fertility in women as well as men (1).

Thus it is shown that AGEs (advanced glycation products) are involved in the genesis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) one of the main causes of infertility as well as in ovarian dysfunction. These studies conclude that glycation would compromise the formation of healthy embryos and therefore conception.

Worse still, AGEs would have a transgenerational effect on female reproduction automatically resulting in aggravation of infertility transmitted to future generations.

[Glycation is one of the major causes of aging. Resulting from the fixation of sugars on the proteins constituting the organism, glycation generates toxic compounds that cause cellular aging. Glycation is particularly involved in metabolic disorders, skin aging and cognitive decline.]
